Does anyone else notice this about the 'Lorien Legacies'?

I personally only read the book because I seen the movie. And Oh how I was disappointed. I felt that a thirteen year old could write the story better than that. And to pick a fictional character as a pen name and put that character IN the story was horrible comedy. The book was dry and lack luster. There are plot holes and John's character was so contradicting in most of the book. In this case I much prefer the movie, even thought most of the acting in it was also dry and forced..
