I've finished school and don't really know what to do?

I've finished my Leaving Cert and I don't know for sure what third level education I'm going to start in September. More than anything I want to study fashion design however and start my own business. However I've been so busy with school and studying that I only realised what I want to do last year and I haven't had time to do anything about it, so now I just feel like I have nothing. It's summer and everybody my age seems to have a job. I suppose I should start looking for a job too so that I can gain experience and have some money. But is it a waste of time? Is there a way I can make money without being employed? Considering what career path I want, what is the best way to approach it?
